A group of 28 students from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta is conducting a Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) community service programme in Bangka Regency. The cohort, comprising 14 female and 14 male students, was officially received by Bangka Regent Fery Insani.

Regent Fery Insani noted that Bangka is a regular host for UGM’s KKN programme, with students participating almost every year. This year, the 28 students will be stationed in Bukit Layang Village, located in the Mendo Barat District. The regent highlighted that the village’s characteristics as a mining, agricultural, and plantation area make it a highly suitable location for the programme.

He expressed hope that the students would be able to apply their knowledge to benefit the local community, particularly in improving welfare, health, and the local economy. The KKN programme is a form of intellectual community service designed to allow students to experience real-world conditions and help find solutions to problems in the field.
