Twenty-eight teams from various universities across Indonesia are ready to present their best work at the Kung Fu Quest Indonesian ABU Robot Contest (KRAI) 2026, held at the University of Jember (Unej), East Java, from 9 to 12 July 2026. The teams participated in a technical meeting to align their understanding of the regulations, match mechanisms, scoring system, and safety aspects, held on the third floor of the Unej Entrepreneurship Building on Friday. KRAI 2026 Chief Judge Prof Benyamino Kusumo Putro stated that the technical meeting is a crucial part of maintaining the integrity of the competition, urging all participants to uphold the principles of fairness and fair play, while the jury is committed to conducting an objective and data-based assessment process. He emphasised that participants are expected to uphold sportsmanship during the competition, as the winner of KRAI will represent Indonesia at the international ABU Robocon. The 28 participating teams will be divided into eight groups for the preliminary round, with the top team ultimately earning the right to represent the nation. Head of the KRAI 2026 Match Section, Khairul Anam, explained that the committee has prepared all technical needs, including the competition arena, workshop rooms for robot assembly and refinement, health facilities with an ambulance, and liaison officers to assist each team throughout the event. He added that the entire implementation mechanism, from running tests to the final match, has been arranged to allow participants to focus on preparing their robots. The event is also seen as a significant momentum for Unej to demonstrate its capacity as a host for a national-level robotics competition, with live broadcasts connected to the ABU Robocon network expected to provide wider international exposure for the development of robotics in Indonesia.
