Bandarlampung - Saipul, Chair of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Task Force in Lampung Province, said that 28 Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) kitchens in the province have been temporarily suspended to improve service quality. Saipul stated on Monday in Bandarlampung that the suspended SPPG kitchens are spread across several regencies and cities in Lampung Province. ‘Areas affected by the temporary suspension include North Lampung Regency, Waykanan, Central Lampung, Tulang Bawang, East Lampung, Metro City, and Bandarlampung,’ he said. He explained that the suspensions were due to public complaints about contaminated food and failure to meet hygiene standards, such as not having or submitting a Sanitary Hygiene Certificate (SLHS). ‘Generally, the issues are unsubmitted SLHS certificates and reports of bacterial-contaminated meals. The temporary suspension allows time for quality improvements,’ he added. Saipul noted that suspended SPPG kitchens can request assistance to enhance their standards. For food safety issues, the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) will provide guidance, while health and environment departments will handle wastewater treatment (IPAL) concerns. ‘The suspension period varies; some have reported up to 10 days or more. However, the aim is to improve MBG quality,’ he said. Nationally, the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has suspended 1,152 SPPG kitchens as a firm stance against standard violations in the MBG program. During operational standard evaluation and tightening, BGN reported that 4,581 SPPGs across Indonesia have had their operations temporarily halted since early 2025 to undergo quality improvements and service standard adjustments.
