270 Students at Lebak's Sekolah Rakyat Join Pre-MPLS Orientation

A total of 270 students at the Sekolah Rakyat in Lebak Regency, Banten, are taking part in pre-school environment introduction period (MPLS) activities at the new permanent building located in Panggarangan, which spans 8.8 hectares.

Acting Head of the Lebak Regency Social Service, Lela Gifty Cleria, said in a statement in Lebak on Monday that parents of the students were present to observe the pre-MPLS activities, as the permanent building is around 98 percent complete and only finishing work remains.

The MPLS activities for new students of the 2026/2027 academic year are most likely to be held in mid-September 2026.

The profile of the 270 Sekolah Rakyat students consists of 30 primary school pupils, 120 lower secondary school pupils and 120 upper secondary school pupils. All students have undergone free health checks (CKG) as a requirement.

“The CKG examinations involved medical personnel from the Panggarangan Community Health Centre,” she explained.

According to Lela, the new permanent Sekolah Rakyat building in Panggarangan can accommodate around 1,000 students.

The Sekolah Rakyat students enrolled for the 2026/2027 academic year number 270, while in 2025/2026 there were 200 students from poor and extreme poor families in Desil 1 and Desil 2 according to the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN).

The new permanent Sekolah Rakyat Panggarangan building is equipped with facilities including classrooms, dormitories, a multipurpose hall, kitchen, canteen, places of worship and sports fields.

As such, she is optimistic that Sekolah Rakyat can produce high-achieving students with superior and independent human resources, in line with the expectations of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming.

“We hope that in the future Sekolah Rakyat students can break the chain of poverty,” said Lela.

Meanwhile, one parent, Yani, a resident of Malingping in Lebak Regency, said she was proud that her child was accepted at Sekolah Rakyat Panggarangan at the upper secondary level.

“We hope that our second child of five siblings can continue their education to university, so that they can change their life for the better,” said Yani, who stated that she works as a farm labourer.
