27 Students Undergo State Defence Training, Pramono: To Foster Greater Appreciation for the Nation
A total of 27 students from Jakarta participated in a state defence training programme after being involved in demonstrations on 27 August. The Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, assessed the programme as a beneficial activity for the students.
Pramono shared this during an interview in the Tebet area, South Jakarta, on Thursday (10/9/2026). He explained that the programme is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Defence and the Metro Jaya Regional Police.
“There is a programme being conducted by the Ministry of Defence together with the Metro Jaya Regional Police to provide state defence training,” said Pramono.
Pramono noted that the participants did not only originate from Jakarta. Several students from areas surrounding Jakarta, such as Tangerang, Bekasi, South Tangerang, Bogor, and Depok, also took part in the activity.
“Indeed, Jakarta is also joined by those from Tangerang, Bekasi, South Tangerang, Bogor, Depok, and so on,” he added.
Specifically from Jakarta, 29 students were initially sent to participate in the programme. However, Pramono stated that only 27 students ultimately took part in the activity.
“From Jakarta itself, 29 were initially sent, but 27 participated in the programme,” he explained.
Pramono believes the state defence programme provides positive value for the students. He hopes the activity can foster a sense of love and appreciation for the country.
“This is a state defence programme. In my view, this programme is good because it helps, especially for students, to more appreciate and love their own country,” he remarked.
However, Pramono suggested that specific details regarding the curriculum and implementation of the programme should be directed to the organising agencies.
“Therefore, regarding the programme details, since this is being conducted by the Ministry of Defence and the Metro Jaya Regional Police, please direct your enquiries to the educational institutions conducting the programme,” he concluded.
It was previously reported that 29 students from DKI Jakarta participated in state defence briefing activities in Bogor. These students had previously been caught up in demonstrations around the DPR/MPR building some time ago.
The Head of the Jakarta Education Office, Nahdiana, stated that they were part of a total of 151 children participating in the activity. The group comprised 29 students consisting of 12 vocational high school (SMK) students, seven high school (SMA) students, four junior high school (SMP) students, four participants from Community Learning Centres (PKBM), one student from a Learning Activity Studio (SKB), and one primary school student.
Nahdiana explained that the activity is part of a programme coordinated by the Metro Jaya Regional Police and the Ministry of Defence through the KKRI for children in conflict with the law (ABH).
