27 August Demonstration at DPR: These Are AMPB's Two Main Demands
The Pati United Community Alliance (AMPB) has confirmed that its planned demonstration outside the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) building in Jakarta on Thursday (27/8/2026) will proceed peacefully. Demonstrators emphasised that the movement is focused on two main demands related to strengthening corruption eradication in Indonesia.
AMPB coordinator Supriyono, also known as Botok, outlined the two key points being brought to Senayan: accelerating the passage of the Asset Forfeiture Bill and implementing the death penalty for perpetrators of corruption.
“We have no intention of causing trouble in Jakarta. We support the movement of our colleagues in the Greater Jakarta area who will hold the 27 August action,” Botok said when met in Jakarta on Wednesday (26/8).
Botok firmly dismissed suggestions that the AMPB action was being co-opted by any particular political agenda. He assured that his group’s movement is purely aimed at overseeing the anti-corruption agenda, with no intention of unseating the national leadership.
“There is no agenda to remove Prabowo-Gibran. We support the Prabowo administration so that it becomes better,” he stressed.
Botok explained that AMPB had previously conveyed similar aspirations at the regional level, during a demonstration in Pati Regency on 13 August. At that time, they asked the Pati Regency DPRD to forward the proposal for the passage of the Asset Forfeiture Bill to the central level.
Seeing a wave of movements with similar demands in Jakarta, the people of Pati decided to travel to the capital to convey their input directly to the people’s representatives in the DPR.
Botok guaranteed that all AMPB demonstrators would maintain public order and would not be provoked into committing anarchic acts during the delivery of their aspirations.
“We came to the DPR to provide input so that the bill is immediately passed. Our action is focused in front of the DPR building and we are focused on those two demands,” Botok concluded.
