27,000 Litres of Clean Water Distributed to Combat Drought in Banyumas

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has confirmed that at least 27,000 litres of clean water have been distributed to address drought conditions in Banyumas Regency, Central Java. Abdul Muhari, Head of the BNPB Data, Information, and Communication Centre, stated on Monday that the Banyumas Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) deployed five water trucks simultaneously until Saturday night. “The BPBD, together with village officials and volunteers, moved quickly to meet the basic clean water needs of affected residents,” he said. He explained that reduced rainfall had caused several local water sources to dry up, leaving residents struggling to obtain water for their daily needs. In addition to residential areas, 8,000 litres of clean water were distributed to the Hidayatul Kholil and An Najah Islamic boarding schools in Rancamaya Village, Cilongok District. The BPBD team also distributed 5,000 litres each to Langgongsari and Cipete villages in Cilongok District, and to Jingkang Village in Ajibarang District. “The BNPB appreciates the swift action of the local government and all parties involved in handling the drought,” he said. He also reminded local governments to continuously monitor water conditions, optimise distribution points, and educate the public to conserve water during the dry season.
