26 Names Allegedly Involved in MBG Corruption, Palace: Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary Ready to Be Processed if Proven

The government has emphasised it will not grant special treatment to any party if they are proven to be involved in the alleged corruption of the management of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. The statement was made amid claims that 26 names suspected of involvement in the MBG corruption have been submitted to investigators at the Attorney General’s Office by suspect Sony Sonjaya. Head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom) Muhammad Qodari stressed that all parties suspected of involvement must be treated equally under the law, regardless of their position or the institution they come from. “Yes, just process them legally. It does not matter if they are from the executive, the legislative, or the judiciary; if there is a violation of the law, it must be processed accordingly,” said Qodari at the Bakom Office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 10 June 2026. The government will not intervene in the ongoing legal process at the Attorney General’s Office, including if the investigation later leads to state officials or parties holding strategic positions. Qodari emphasised that the principle of equality before the law is a commitment that President Prabowo Subianto continues to stress in law enforcement and the eradication of corruption. “So there are no exceptions, as the President says. Whether executive, legislative, or judiciary, this time it is all the same in the legal process,” he stated. This statement emerged after Sony Sonjaya’s legal counsel, Krisna Murti, revealed that his client had submitted more than 20 names to investigators at the Attorney General’s Office in the official examination report (BAP). “We have conveyed it to the investigators (over 20 names); it is already in the BAP. During the examination, as I was assisting Mr Sony, we already put it in the BAP,” said Krisna. In addition to submitting the names, Sony has also applied to be a Justice Collaborator (JC). According to Krisna, this step was taken to help investigators uncover the alleged involvement of other parties in the case under investigation. “We have submitted the JC letter, it has been signed, and I have handed it over (to the Attorney General’s Office). We hope the prosecutor’s office will grant the JC status because it is for uncovering a larger event and to make further investigation easier,” he said.
