The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Animal Quarantine Agency has recorded 26,979 cattle from NTB sent to Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) for the 2026 Eid al-Adha sacrifices. The sacrificial cattle shipments have been ongoing since March 2026. Amirullah, head of the NTB Animal Quarantine Working Team, stated that the total number of cattle shipments reached 1,094 times. ‘The Eid al-Adha shipments began in March and April, peaking in May with around 18,000 cattle destined for Jabodetabek,’ he said on Monday (25 May 2026). Amirullah confirmed all sent cattle underwent strict health checks and are free from contagious animal diseases, including foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). ‘All cattle we’ve sent are healthy. Physical and laboratory checks, especially for FMD, have been conducted. None have been rejected and all are fit for shipment,’ he explained. In addition to sacrificial shipments, the NTB Animal Quarantine Agency recorded 4,793 regular cattle shipments to regions outside Jabodetabek since the start of 2026. ‘The non-Jabodetabek shipments totalled 4,793 cattle to East Lampung, Central Lampung, Sulawesi, Banjarmasin, and other areas,’ he added. Meanwhile, Amirullah revealed the NTB Provincial Government continues to ban cattle imports from outside the province due to ongoing outbreaks of animal diseases, such as Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD), in other regions. ‘Imports are still prohibited under local government regulations as the disease situation outside NTB remains active, making entry impossible. The highest risk is LSD,’ he concluded.
