PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Regional Division I North Sumatra has called on passengers to maintain etiquette and mutual respect to ensure comfort during the recent high-mobility period coinciding with the Vesak Day and Pancasila Day holidays. Between 30 May and 1 June 2026, a total of 26,144 passengers utilised train services within the North Sumatra Regional Division I area.

Anwar Yuli Prastyo, Public Relations Manager for North Sumatra Regional Division I, stated that travel comfort is determined not only by available facilities but also by passenger behaviour within stations and on trains. He emphasised that as a shared public transport, comfort is achieved when passengers respect one another. KAI has urged passengers to occupy seats according to their tickets, manage noise levels from conversations and electronic devices, and ensure luggage does not obstruct others.

Furthermore, passengers are expected to maintain cleanliness by using provided bins or handing waste to the On-Train Cleaning (OTC) staff. Anwar noted that maintaining order is crucial during periods of high mobility to ensure a pleasant experience for all.

In terms of arrivals, Padang Station emerged as a favourite destination, recording 11,526 arriving passengers. The peak of outbound traffic occurred on 26 May 2026, while the peak of return traffic was recorded on 1 June 2026. Meanwhile, passenger movement within the Daop 8 Surabaya region during the long holiday period spanning 26 May to 1 June 2026 reached 284,818 passengers. Across all stations in the Daop 8 Surabaya area, the projected number of customers served was 239,134, averaging approximately 7,792 seats per day to meet the mobility needs of the region.
