The National Selection Committee for New Students (SNPMB) announced that 256,369 prospective students out of 871,496 applicants successfully passed the 2026 National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) for various Indonesian Public Universities (PTNs).

The committee noted a 29.42% acceptance rate among applicants competing for 286,864 available seats across 145 PTNs nationwide.

Among the successful candidates, 86,118 (33.59%) were recipients of the KIP Kuliah scholarship, and 69 disabled students—including the blind, physically disabled, deaf, and speech-impaired—were admitted.

Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto stated that the high participation rate indicates growing public trust and desire to send their children to higher education.

“This is positive news, as more young people seeking higher education enhances our nation’s ability to develop superior human resources for Golden Indonesia 2045. We are grateful that SNPMB has responded to this enthusiasm with increasingly robust, accountable, and equitable selection systems,” the minister said.

Brian also highlighted the significant reduction in cheating incidents due to a more solid selection system.

He cited measures such as tightened supervision protocols, metal detectors, and AI-powered facial recognition technology to prevent fraud.

“Several changes were made this year based on evaluations of previous years’ processes. This year, the SNPMB selection committee has effectively detected and prevented cheating,” Brian added.

SNPMB 2026 Committee Chairman Eduart Wolok congratulated those who passed the SNBT.

He urged successful candidates to complete re-registration according to their chosen PTN’s schedule.

Wolok also advised those who did not pass to remain hopeful, as they still have opportunities to apply through independent admission pathways for the 2026 PTN intake.
