DENPASAR, Bali: Two men were arrested and 2,496 bottles of
imported liquor were seized in a routine crackdown, a police
officer said here on Friday.

Bali Police detective chief Col. Bambang Hendarso said police
raided a warehouse on Jl. Buluh Indah belonging to a businessman
identified as Ed. T. on Oct. 18.

The officers found 112 boxes containing 1,344 bottles of
various liquors. The officers stopped a truck belonging to Ed. T.
a few hours later and discovered 96 boxes containing 1,152
bottles of liquor, Bambang said.

The truck driver, identified as INSS, was arrested, he said.

"We found bottles of Chivas Regal, Johnny Walker, Bacardy,
Smirnoff, Galiano, Seagrams Dry Gin, none of which bore revenue
stamps. There are no proper documents for the possession of the
liquor, so it must have been smuggled into Indonesia," Bambang
said. (zen)
