250 Passengers Safely Evacuated After Mentawai Fast Boat Stranded in Storm Off Padang

A storm and high waves battered the Mentawai Fast 01 as it arrived at the Muara Padang dock in West Sumatra on Friday, leaving the vessel stranded and its engine dead. The fast boat, carrying at least 250 passengers from Tua Pejat in the Mentawai Islands Regency, was trapped for approximately three hours in severe sea conditions. A joint rescue team managed to pull the vessel using another boat, successfully bringing it to the dock. Police personnel assisted passengers in disembarking and ensured the evacuation process was conducted safely.
