The government has completed 250 National Strategic Projects (PSNs) between 2016 and 29 October 2026, with total investment of Rp 2,396 trillion.

Suroto, an assistant deputy for economic zones and strategic projects at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, said 10 PSNs were targeted for completion this year. Six had been completed by September 2026.

“This means four projects are still targeted for completion by the end of 2026. Meanwhile, 30 other PSNs are still under construction,” Suroto said, as quoted by Antara on Friday (30 October 2026).

According to a 2023 study by the University of Indonesia’s Institute for Economic and Social Research (LPEM FEB UI), PSNs are estimated to generate Rp 3,344 trillion in economic output and contribute Rp 1,564 trillion to gross domestic product (GDP).

The strategic projects are also estimated to contribute Rp 1,134 trillion in labour income and create 7.9 million job opportunities.

Suroto said the study indicated an economic output multiplier of 1.919, illustrating the scale of economic activity generated by PSN investment.

In addition to their contribution to GDP, PSN construction is considered to bring economic benefits to local areas. The Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KIT Batang), for example, has employed 26,871 people, including construction workers, employees of industrial tenants and estate managers.

Around 70 per cent of those workers are from Batang Regency, demonstrating substantial local participation in the development of KIT Batang.
