A tidal flood has affected around 250 families in Kampung Bugis, a coastal area of Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara. The flooding began on Wednesday, 3 June 2026. Budi Wartono, Head of the Mataram Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), confirmed that approximately 200 to 250 households were impacted, with water levels reaching up to 50 centimetres as the surge moved inland. The flooding primarily submerged residential yards and several road sections in the Kampung Bugis area. The average depth of standing water on the roads reached the ankles of adults. BPBD has urged the public to remain alert and report immediately if flood conditions worsen. The agency has also issued an advisory extending through 6 June, warning that the potential for high waves is expected to continue over the coming days and asking coastal residents to exercise extra caution. Separately, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) at the Zainuddin Abdul Madjid Meteorological Station issued an early warning for strong winds forecast between 4 and 6 June 2026. Residents were urged to be cautious of disaster impacts such as flooding, flash floods, landslides, standing water, strong winds, lightning, reduced visibility, and fallen trees. The BMKG also advised fishermen, maritime transport operators, marine tourism operators, and communities active in coastal areas to increase vigilance against high waves potentially exceeding two metres. Such wave heights are expected across several NTB waters, including the northern and southern Lombok Strait, northern and southern Alas Strait, the southern waters of Sumbawa to the southern Sape Strait, and the Indian Ocean south of NTB.
