JAKARTA (JP): Some 250 aircraft of various types, from Africa, Asia, Europe and America, will take part in the Indonesian Airshow '96, to be held at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport from June 22 through July 1, 1996.
Suprihadi, of the Indonesian Airshow '96 committee, said yesterday in Melbourne that 600 companies from all over the world will take part in the show. And as of early this month, 300 companies have registered for the show.
Suprihadi was in Melbourne to attend the Airshow Australia '95 at Avalon, in which 400 companies took part.
He noted that the Indonesian Airshow '96 will serve as an aerobatics festival, where participants will engage in aerobatics demonstrations. A number of noted teams, such as Blue Thunder of the United States and Red Arrows of Britain, will show their mastery in aerobatics demonstrations.
"It is expected that an aerobatics team from the Indonesian Air Force will also participate for the first time in the event," Suprihadi said, reported Antara from Melbourne.
The first Indonesian Airshow was held in 1986 with 75 aircraft taking part in the event.
Suprihadi said that the Bandung-based state-owned aircraft manufacturer PT IPTN will also display a range of its products, including its newest commuter plane N-250, at the Indonesian Airshow '96.
The United States, Suprihadi said, will exhibit for the first time its Boeing-777 aircraft, while Russia will show its Superjet SU-27 and Europe will present a military version of Euro-Fighter- 200 aircraft, which is jointly made by Britain, Germany and Italy. (rid)
