25 Years of UNM: Rector Says Long Journey Built on Trust and Good Intentions
Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM) commemorated its 25-year journey as a higher education institution that continues to grow and adapt amid changing times.
The 25th Dies Natalis served as a moment of reflection on the long road travelled, as well as a reminder that a university’s success is not built in a short time.
The celebration was attended online by the Chairman of the Indonesia Nusa Mandiri Foundation, Sigit Swasono Djauhari, and in person by UNM Rector Prof Dr Ir Dwiza Riana, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology (FTI) Dr Anton, and Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Dr Ida Zuniarti.
The event was also attended by the entire UNM academic community, who have been an important part of the university’s journey over a quarter of a century.
For Prof Dwiza, 25 years is not merely a number marking how long an institution has existed. It is a long journey filled with processes, challenges, learning, and the collective work of many parties who believe in UNM’s future.
“Of course, this 25-year journey has not been easy, but it has been built on self-confidence and support from all parties, both from internal lecturers,” said Prof Dwiza in a statement quoted on Wednesday (12/8/2026).
According to her, the long journey of a higher education institution cannot rest on a single party. UNM’s continuity and development are the result of collaboration among lecturers, education staff, students, alumni, partners, and all parties who continue to support the institution’s growth.
Behind these various achievements and long processes, Prof Dwiza believes there is one thing that serves as the main foundation of UNM’s journey as a Digital Business Campus. It is not merely targets, figures, or institutional achievements, but rather the intention to provide broader benefits for society, the nation, and the country.
“I believe that what underlies all of this is the good intention to be of benefit to the nation and the country,” she asserted. The statement became an important reflection in the commemoration of UNM’s 25th Dies Natalis.
After all, the journey of higher education is ultimately not only about how long an institution can survive, but how much its existence can create an impact for the surrounding environment and society.
Over 25 years, UNM has continued to position education, technology, and human resource development as part of its contribution to facing an increasingly dynamic world.
The presence of FTI and FEB is also part of UNM’s efforts to answer the needs of society and industry through education that is relevant to the times.
