The East Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jaktim), together with the Environmental Enforcement Unit of Kramat Jati, has transported 25 tonnes of debris from the flooding last week. “A total of 25 tonnes of debris from flooding in the Kramat Jati Sub-district has been successfully cleaned up,” said the Head of the Environmental Enforcement Unit of Kramat Jati Sub-district, Dwi Firmansyah, in Jakarta on Friday (27/3), quoted from Antara. He mentioned that the debris cleanup has been underway since Monday (23/3) and was completed on target today. The debris resulted from the overflow of the Kali Baru and Kali Induk rivers, which occurred from Saturday night (21/3) to Sunday morning (22/3). Dwi detailed that from the two affected locations, namely Tengah Ward and Batu Ampar Ward, the largest volume of debris came from Tengah Ward at 21 tonnes, while Batu Ampar had 4 tonnes. Regarding transportation, he said that eight vehicles were deployed, consisting of three large tipper trucks, three small tipper trucks, one Hilux unit, and one pickup truck from the Waste Handling Unit (UPS) of the Water Body Agency. “Fifteen personnel from the Environmental Task Force were also deployed, assisted by PPSU (Public Facilities and Infrastructure Handling) officers and the UPS Water Body Agency Task Force,” Dwi stated. He revealed that the debris cleanup process was hampered by access to locations or roads that could not be reached by transport vehicles. “Some points had to be handled manually because vehicles could not enter. The debris was first brought to locations accessible by transport vehicles,” Dwi explained. Meanwhile, the Head of Tengah Ward, Budi Hartati, appreciated the cross-Organisational Device (OPD) collaboration in handling post-flooding debris in her area. “Thank you to the Environmental Unit, UPS Water Body Agency, PPSU officers, and residents who helped,” Budi said. She also mentioned that to support the acceleration of the cleanup process, 30 PPSU officers were deployed, focused on several affected points, including RT 01, 02, 03, 09, and RT 10 in RW 01, as well as RT 04 in RW 08. “We hope this debris cleanup can be completed soon and that flooding does not occur again in the future,” Budi stated. Previously, heavy rain and overflow from the Ciliwung River submerged several residential areas and roads in Balekambang, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, on Saturday (21/3). The high-intensity rain that hit the Jakarta area since the afternoon caused overflow from the Ciliwung River, submerging several residential areas and roads in Balekambang, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta. Water began entering homes around 4:00 PM WIB. Within three hours, the water level rose rapidly to more than one metre. The water levels in the area varied from 30 centimetres to one metre. Not only residents’ settlements, flooding also temporarily occurred on Jalan Raya Bogor, specifically at the Hek intersection in Kramat Jati. The water level on that road reached about 50 centimetres.
