25 Personnel Deployed to Extinguish Rubbish Heap Fire in Tambora

A total of 25 personnel with four fire engines from the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) were deployed to extinguish a fire in a rubbish heap on Jalan KH. Moch Mansyur, Duri Selatan Urban Village, Tambora District, on Thursday.

Head of Operations for the West Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-department, Syaiful Kahfi, stated that the department received information about the fire at 6.18 p.m. Western Indonesia Time from a resident named Agus. “Four units of the fleet with a strength of 25 personnel were deployed,” Syaiful said when confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.

Syaiful explained that the object on fire was a pile of rubbish in a densely populated settlement. “The extinguishing process was carried out by isolating the spread of the fire. The cooling process began at 6.30 p.m. Western Indonesia Time,” Syaiful stated.

After ensuring there were no remaining hotspots or residual smoke that could potentially reignite the fire, the operation was declared fully complete at 6.44 p.m. Western Indonesia Time with a safe status. “The current situation has been confirmed safe and the extinguishing is fully complete. There were no significant obstacles during the extinguishing process in the field,” he said.

There were no casualties in the incident. Meanwhile, the cause of the fire remains unknown. The West Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-department has urged the public to remain vigilant and not to carelessly discard or burn rubbish, especially in areas around settlements, to anticipate fire hazards.
