25% of Cilacap area for industry

CILACAP, Central Java: Regent HM Soepardi said yesterday that a quarter of the Cilacap regency had been allotted for industrial estates.

Soepardi said that large industries, such as PT Semen Nusantara and the Refinery Unit IV of the state-owned Pertamina oil company were operating in the area. "More big industries will be built in the future. The small industries have been growing," he said.

New industries to be built include a sugar factory, a hydropower plant, and a paint factory which will be built by Bimantara Group.

Infrastructure, such as roads, telecommunications, clean water and drainage systems are ready to support the industry, he said.

He said 30 percent of the area allocated for the industrial estate had been occupied. "We are seeking more investors," the regent said. (wah/sur)
