245 KDMP Established in Bandung Regency, Regent Urges Massive Regulatory Socialisation
The Bandung Regency Government has declared itself one of the regions most prepared to implement the Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih (KDMP) programme. By mid-July 2026, a total of 245 village and sub-district cooperatives had been formed, with 45 units physically completed and beginning to receive operational support. Bupati Dadang Supriatna stated that the acceleration of KDMP formation is part of the Bandung Regency Government’s support for President Prabowo’s priority programme to build a village-based people’s economy. “In Bandung Regency, out of 280 villages and sub-districts, 245 cooperatives have been formed. In fact, 45 of them are physically complete. Several villages have received operational vehicles to support cooperative activities and community economic growth,” he explained. According to him, although the regulation for establishing KDMP, Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2025 on the Acceleration of KDMP Formation, has been issued by the central government, he believes many people still do not understand the purpose and benefits of the cooperatives. Therefore, he requested that the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, the Coordinating Ministry for Food, and the Ministry of Cooperatives strengthen socialisation down to the village level. “The regulation is in place, but not all members of the public fully understand it. Socialisation and education must continue to be strengthened so that people know the benefits of this cooperative and help oversee it,” he explained. Dadang elaborated that cooperatives have a strategic role as drivers of the people’s economy because they are built on the principle of togetherness. The presence of KDMP is considered a solution to reduce public dependence on online loans, online gambling, and ‘bank emok’ practices that are still rampant in several areas. “Cooperatives are a solution for the people’s economy. With a strong cooperative movement, we hope the public will no longer depend on harmful online loans, online gambling, or bank emok,” he asserted.
