A total of 240 residents in three residential areas in Arosuka, Solok Regency, West Sumatra, have been affected by flash floods hitting the region, with varying degrees of direct and indirect impact.

The Regent of Solok, Jon Firman Pandu, stated that the affected residents are spread across three housing estates with different levels of impact due to the disaster. “There are three housing areas affected by the disaster. Based on the data we have received, there are approximately 240 of our residents here, some directly affected and some indirectly affected,” he said while inspecting the Nuansa Griya Housing estate in Arosuka on Wednesday, 23 September 2026.

He noted that efforts to assist affected residents include cleaning up mud and debris that have inundated roads and residential environments. The Solok Regency Government, alongside the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), volunteers, and other relevant parties, have been deployed to clear the flood debris from the area.

In addition to debris removal, the government is setting up public kitchens and distributing aid to meet the needs of those affected by the disaster. The Regent added that support from volunteers from several regencies and cities across West Sumatra has helped accelerate the cleaning process and the handling of affected residents in various locations.

According to him, disaster management is being conducted collectively, as the impact requires the involvement of various sectors, particularly in environmental cleaning and meeting community needs. The flash flood will also serve as a basis for the Solok Regency Government to evaluate the condition of the area, public and employee safety, and the licensing processes related to the affected zones.

“We will check the details of the Environmental Impact Assessment (AMDAL) permits, examining the process and conducting an evaluation,” he said. The Solok Regency Government has also begun discussing the possibility of relocating the government office district if the evaluation shows that the current location poses a risk to the safety of employees and the public. However, he emphasised that the plan to relocate the office area is still in the early stages of discussion and has not yet been finalised by the Solok Regency Government.

On the ground, civil servants (ASN) are also assisting in cleaning the areas affected by flood debris alongside the TNI, Polri, volunteers, and other agencies.
