Jakarta, VIVA – The Directorate of Narcotics Investigation of the Metro Jaya Regional Police thwarted an attempt to distribute ecstasy in East Jakarta. A man identified as RF (24) was apprehended on suspicion of distributing thousands of ecstasy pills in the Cililitan area.

The arrest was carried out by Unit 1, Subdirectorate 3 of the Ditresnarkoba Polda Metro Jaya on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. RF was arrested in front of PGC Mall, Jalan Mayor Sutoyo, Cililitan, East Jakarta.

The case emerged after police received information from the public regarding drug trafficking activity in the area. Following the report, officers conducted surveillance and mapped locations suspected of involvement.

While monitoring the area, officers saw a man whose appearance matched the information in front of the shopping centre. Officers then immediately arrested him.

During a search, police found eight large plastic bags containing ecstasy with a total of 2,000 tablets. In addition, the officers confiscated a Vivo Y19S mobile phone believed to be connected to the illicit activity.

“On Tuesday, 3 March at around 13:00 WIB, we secured a man identified as RF in front of Mall PGC, Jalan Mayor Sutoyo, Cililitan, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta. In our arrest, we secured evidence consisting of 2,000 ecstasy tablets,” said AKP Ari Purwanto, head of Unit 1, Subdit 3, Ditresnarkoba Polda Metro Jaya, on Thursday, 5 March 2026.

From initial examinations, RF, who is known to still be a student, admitted that the thousands of ecstasy tablets were in his possession. Police then conducted development by searching the suspect’s residence in Depok.

However, during the search of his home, officers did not find any additional evidence related to the case.

AKP Ari Purwanto also urged members of the public to take preventive measures early to deter drug use and to protect the younger generation from the dangers of narcotics.

Currently, the suspect along with the evidence has been taken to the Metro Jaya Ditresnarkoba Headquarters to undergo further investigation.
