24 Victims of KMP Mutiara Sentosa II Receive Emergency Medical Treatment

A total of 24 victims from the KMP Mutiara Sentosa II ferry are currently receiving intensive medical treatment after being evacuated to Gapura Surya Nusantara at Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya, East Java. Meanwhile, passengers who did not require special medical attention have been accommodated at a hotel in the port area. Head of the Surabaya Basarnas Office, Nanang Sigit, stated that the injured victims were distributed across two locations. Twenty people are being treated at PHC Surabaya Hospital, while four others are receiving care at a hospital in Sumenep. According to Nanang, the majority of the injuries were caused by impact trauma sustained as passengers attempted to save themselves during the incident. Basarnas confirmed that 234 out of 236 people on board have been safely evacuated. Search efforts are ongoing for the two remaining individuals reported missing, as authorities continue to verify the passenger manifest data.
