Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) has recorded that 235,000 tickets for the Whoosh high-speed train for various travel routes have been sold during the 2026 Lebaran transport period. “In total, the number of Whoosh tickets sold during the Lebaran transport post period from 13 to 30 March reaches 235,000 tickets to various destinations,” said KCIC Corporate Communication Manager Emir Monti at the KCIC Station in East Jakarta on Wednesday. According to Emir, ticket sales for the Whoosh high-speed train during the 2026 Lebaran transport period show a positive trend. “This number still has the potential to continue increasing, as ticket sales are ongoing until the last day of the Lebaran transport period,” he said. In addition, the high public interest in using the Whoosh service serves as a strong indicator that this fast transportation mode is increasingly favoured, especially for Eid homecoming and return trips. KCIC also projects an additional surge in passengers ahead of the peak return flow, in line with the continued availability of ticket sales and high societal mobility returning to their home cities after the long holiday. Looking ahead, Emir urged the public who have not yet obtained tickets to book immediately, given that seat availability may become increasingly limited during the Lebaran transport period. PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) predicts that the number of Whoosh high-speed train passengers will reach 25,000 people during the peak return flow of Lebaran on 28-29 March 2026. According to him, this peak return flow coincides with the resumption of work and school activities. Moreover, the trend of increasing passengers has actually started to appear in the last few days. In fact, during the previous period, the number of passengers from Bandung to Halim was recorded as quite high. “Passengers from Bandung to Halim once reached more than 24,000 people in one day on Tuesday (24/3),” Emir stated. This surge is inseparable from the policies of several companies starting work on 30 March to 1 April. Then, teaching and learning activities in schools also resume. These conditions encourage the public to return to Jakarta after celebrating Eid in their hometowns.
