23 new city officials inaugurated

JAKARTA: Governor Sutiyoso launched on Monday a major reshuffle involving 23 city officials of the second and third echelons.

Amid the new key officials is Firman Hutadjulu who will lead the city audit agency. He was the former head of the city Public Order Office who was notorious for his evictions of street vendors and slum residents.

Firman was replaced by Soebagio, the former North Jakarta mayor.

Rama Budi, former deputy head of the Jakarta Sanitary Agency, was promoted to lead the assets bureau, replacing Margani M. Mustar.

Before he was replaced, Margani pledged to crack down on developers who ignored their responsibility to provide facilities for the community in their property projects.

Other officials who were installed include Setiawan Kanani, the new head of the city mining agency, Nurfakih Wirawan, head of the city planning agency, and Hari Sandjojo, assistant to the city secretary for economic affairs. --JP
