MANADO, North Sulawesi: Rescue workers are searching for 23
people who went missing after their fishing boat sank near
Taliabu Island in North Maluku on March 5.

PT Sari Cakalang, the operator of the ill fated boat, has also
sent two of the vessels to take part in the search for the
missing fishermen, a spokesman for the company said.

The boat was believed to have capsized in stormy weather.

Thirteen crew members made it ashore, but the fate of 23
others were not determined.

The provincial transportation office has appealed to all ships
passing waters near Taliabu to look out for any sign of the
victims, Antara reported yesterday. (rms)
