23 killed in Pakistan military train blast
ISLAMABAD — The death toll from a car bomb attack near a military personnel train in Quetta, Pakistan, on Sunday, 24 May, has reached 23, with around 47 others injured, according to a Pakistani security source speaking to RIA Novosti.
The train was targeted by a car bomb.
“The number of casualties from the terrorist attack has risen to 23. Bodies have been taken to Quetta Civil Hospital, and approximately 47 injured have also been transported there. This is preliminary data, and rescue operations are ongoing,” the source said.
Over 336 military personnel were on the train. Most of the victims were women and children.
Initial investigations suggest the train had stopped to add extra carriages for military families returning home for Eid al-Adha.
