23-Hectare Keranggan Area Begins Redevelopment with New Roads and Drainage
The South Tangerang City Government has begun redeveloping the Kampung Kota area in Keranggan Urban Village, Setu District, through the construction of basic infrastructure to improve the environmental quality and housing for residents. The 23-hectare area redevelopment is targeted for completion by December 2026.
Deputy Mayor of South Tangerang, Pilar Saga Ichsan, inspected the redevelopment site with officials from the Housing, Settlement, and Land Agency (Perkimta) on Wednesday (8/7/2026) to ensure the work proceeds according to plan. Pilar stated that the area is categorised as a Rural Urban Undeveloped Area, a transitional zone between rural and urban areas still dominated by open land, forested areas, or untouched by development. Consequently, the area requires redevelopment to achieve environmental standards equivalent to other residential areas.
“This urban village area needs a touch of infrastructure development. With this redevelopment, we hope the quality of the environment and housing for the community will be better, neater, and more organised,” he said.
The redevelopment programme focuses on basic infrastructure construction, including the building of neighbourhood roads using paving blocks, the construction of U-ditch drainage measuring 30 x 30 centimetres and 40 x 40 centimetres spanning approximately 4 kilometres, the installation of retaining walls, the construction of safety fences at vulnerable points, the building of gateways, and the installation of solar-powered public street lighting. The entire project will cover five community units (RW) and 12 neighbourhood units (RT) in Keranggan Urban Village.
According to Pilar, the main access road to the area was already asphalted the previous year. Therefore, the current redevelopment is focused on the neighbourhood roads within the settlement. “The old paving blocks on the neighbourhood roads will be dismantled and replaced with new three-dimensional patterned paving blocks to make the area neater and more attractive,” he said.
