The Oman Maritime Security Centre (OMSC) said rescue teams saved 23 crew members from a commercial vessel attacked off the coast of the Musandam Governorate. In a statement on Sunday, the OMSC said emergency response teams answered a distress call from the Cyprus-flagged commercial ship, GFS Galaxy, which was attacked approximately 4.4 nautical miles from Musandam. The rescued crew members have received necessary medical care, while search operations are ongoing for one missing crew member, the statement said. The rescue operation followed an announcement by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) that the container ship GFS Galaxy was attacked by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM said the vessel was unable to continue its journey due to a fire on board and extensive damage to its engine room. Earlier on the same day, India condemned the attack on the commercial vessel, which was carrying a number of its citizens. Indian authorities confirmed that 10 Indian nationals had been rescued, while one person remains missing.
