22nd Anniversary of Tagana: Ministry of Social Affairs Holds Community Service Event and Distributes Aid to 1,500 Beneficiary Families
The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) held community service activities to mark the 22nd anniversary of Taruna Siaga Bencana (Tagana), observed on 24 March 2026. Under the theme ‘22 Years of Service, One Synergy for the Nation’s Resilience’, the commemoration highlighted solidarity, professionalism, and Tagana’s frontline role in disaster management. ‘Today, I want to emphasise one thing, in line with the directive from President Prabowo Subianto, that Tagana must always be present at every disaster; this is not just words, it is a track record, it is concrete proof that the state is never absent for its people,’ said Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) in his remarks on Thursday (23/4/2026). He delivered this during his address at the Anniversary Commemoration Roll Call at the Ministry of Social Affairs office in Jakarta on Thursday (23/4). In addition to simultaneous roll calls, this year’s Tagana anniversary celebrations included various positive activities such as thanksgiving events and community service in various regions, including in Jakarta. The community service in Jakarta, particularly in Central Jakarta, involved cleaning the riverbanks around Senen sub-district. Approximately 130 combined personnel, consisting of Tagana volunteers, social pillars, cleaning staff, and PPSU, worked together to clean the riverbanks passing through Paseban, Kwitang, Kenari, and Bungur wards. Chairman of the Central Jakarta Tagana Forum, Benny Suryadilaga, joined directly and provided guidance to the combined personnel carrying out the community work. ‘I first monitored the four wards. First to Paseban, second to Kenari, third to Kwitang, and finally to Bungur. I checked if the Tagana members were ready in the wards I assigned. Alhamdulillah, the friends there were already ready,’ said Benny. In addition to environmental clean-up, Kemensos along with Tagana also distributed social assistance (Bansos) from domestic grant funds to approximately 1,500 beneficiary families (KPM) in those four wards. Based on the information gathered, the total social assistance distributed in the four wards amounted to Rp225 million, with each KPM receiving Rp150,000 in the form of grocery packages containing 5kg of rice, one 425g can of sardines, five packets of instant noodles, and 1 litre of cooking oil. ‘Indeed, I admit, this year is truly extraordinary. Usually, we only do clean-ups, but this time we are very touched by the aid distribution to the communities in need,’ said Benny. Furthermore, Benny explained that in distributing the aid, Tagana did not work alone but collaborated with various social pillars such as PKH companions. ‘There are PKH companions, social companions, and Tagana there; alhamdulillah, it feels very close-knit, and I also feel very grateful to be given the opportunity to carry this out,’ he concluded.
