224 Hotel Rooms Ready to Accommodate Hajj Pilgrims for Jogja Embarkation's Inaugural Operations

The Jogja Hajj Embarkation will begin its inaugural operations this year. Unlike other embarkations, the Jogja embarkation uses hotels as Hajj dormitories. 224 hotel rooms have been prepared to accommodate prospective Hajj pilgrims who will start departing tomorrow.

Acting Head of the DIY Hajj and Umrah Ministry Office, Jauhar Mustofa, stated that all prospective Hajj pilgrims will be placed in one hotel. Meanwhile, the Hajj Service Organising Officers (PPIH) will be divided across two hotels.

“At the Ibis Hotel, there are 224 rooms for Hajj pilgrims and part of the embarkation PPIH task force (Ibis) is only for pilgrims and officers; for Hajj pilgrims, one hotel,” said Jauhar when contacted by detikJogja on Monday (20/4/2026).

“We are sterilising one hotel, the Ibis Hotel, while the Novotel is for support. So, the PPIH will have offices at the Novotel, and then the Ibis we are isolating from the outside world, only for Hajj pilgrims and task forces,” he continued.

The Ibis Hotel, according to Jauhar, will focus solely on serving Hajj pilgrims for the next month. This starts from 21 April or the departure of the first batch from the Jogja embarkation.

In its inaugural operations, Jauhar outlined that the Jogja Embarkation will dispatch 9,320 pilgrims divided into 26 batches. Each hotel room will house three pilgrims.

“So, because we are a new embarkation based on hotels, the central authority trusts us to dispatch only one batch per day, so they rotate,” said Jauhar.

“Batch 1 enters on the 21st, flies out at night, then batch 2 enters on the 22nd and is flown out like that, so they rotate. There won’t be two batches in one place; they rotate, and once one batch is flown out, we call in the next,” he added.

Furthermore, Jauhar explained that the hotels being used have been designed as Hajj dormitories. Several simulations have been conducted, including integration between the pilgrims’ hotel and the officers’ hotel.

“We held simulations twice recently, and we have also prepared standard operating procedures (SOPs), road maps, flows, so that the hotel we designate as the Embarkation can truly be facilitated and utilised,” he concluded.
