22,000 children malnourished

KETAPANG, West Kalimantan: About 22,000 children in the regency are malnourished, Ketapang regent Soenardi Basnu said yesterday.

The regent said he considered the problem serious and promised to seek ways to solve the problem.

Ketapang, which has a population of 300,000, will face serious human resource problems unless malnutrition is properly dealt with, he said.

The regent and his senior officials discussed the problem in a leadership meeting here yesterday, Antara reported. (pan)
