220 Pindad-Produced Electric Rickshaws Distributed to Elderly Drivers

A total of 220 electric rickshaw units produced by PT Pindad (Persero) were distributed to pedal rickshaw drivers in Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java, on Tuesday (1/9/2026).

The assistance, provided through the initiative of President Prabowo Subianto, targets rickshaw drivers aged over 55 to alleviate the physical strain of manual pedalling while simultaneously boosting their productivity.

The electric rickshaws are intended to provide new hope for elderly drivers in the region, helping them maintain their livelihoods more easily during their later years. Before receiving the vehicles, prospective recipients were required to undergo training on basic operation and maintenance to ensure the electric vehicles are used safely and productively.
