The Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD DKI) reported that 22 neighbourhoods in East Jakarta remained flooded on Sunday (22/3) afternoon. The flooding affected three sub-districts in East Jakarta, namely one neighbourhood in Ceger Sub-district, 16 neighbourhoods in Ciracas Sub-district, and five neighbourhoods in Dukuh Sub-district. Water levels ranged from approximately 30 to 80 cm. BPBD attributed the flooding to high rainfall, overflows from the Cipinang River, overflows from the Cilangkap River, and overflows from the Sunter River. The flooding also caused 306 people to evacuate to various points in Ciracas Sub-district. BPBD deployed personnel to monitor the pooling water in each affected area and coordinated with the Water Resources Agency, Public Works Agency, and Environmental and Landscaping Agency to pump out the water and ensure drainage channels are functioning. The pooling in these dozens of neighbourhoods is targeted to recede quickly. On Saturday (21/3), BPBD DKI recorded 46 neighbourhoods in Jakarta flooded due to heavy rain on the first day of Eid al-Fitr 2026.
