22 Indonesian Citizens Evacuated from Iran Arrive at Soekarno-Hatta Airport
Twenty-two Indonesian citizens who were evacuated from Iran arrived at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang on Tuesday, 10 March 2026 at 18:09 Western Indonesia Time.
Based on observations at the location, the Indonesian citizens arrived through the umrah pilgrimage route.
Foreign Minister Sugiono accompanied the Indonesian citizens and proceeded directly to address media representatives.
The Indonesian citizens followed behind him, with some carrying suitcases and hand luggage.
Sugiono stated that the return of the Indonesian citizens was part of the government’s evacuation process from Iran.
He indicated that 22 Indonesian citizens arrived in the first wave of returns on that day.
“This evening, 22 Indonesian citizens have returned in this first wave. Tomorrow, 10 more will depart from Iran,” said Sugiono at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang on Tuesday.
Furthermore, the government continues to open the evacuation process for other Indonesian citizens who wish to return to Indonesia.
“For the second wave, there are currently 36 Indonesian citizens who have registered themselves for evacuation from Iran,” he stated.
During this occasion, Sugiono also conveyed a message to the Indonesian citizens who have returned to the homeland.
“We welcome you back to the homeland, may you be reunited with your families in this holy month,” he said.
“The Foreign Ministry continues to maintain close and extensive coordination with our representatives in that country,” said Sugiono.
