216 State-Owned Enterprises Streamlined by June 2026, What About Employee Fate?

The State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) Supervisory Board (BP BUMN) has streamlined 216 entities as of 15 June 2026. BP BUMN Chief and Danantara Indonesia Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria held an internal evaluation meeting to monitor the simplification of corporate structures across various SOE business groups.

“The transformation of SOEs continues to show positive progress. As of 15 June 2026, a total of 216 entities have been successfully reorganised,” stated a post on the @bumn_id account on Wednesday, 17 June 2026.

The discussions focused on accelerating business consolidation, strengthening core business sectors, optimising asset utilisation, and improving the quality of state corporate governance.

BP BUMN views the restructuring measures as a long-term strategy to create state-owned companies that are more adaptive, professional, and strongly competitive amid economic dynamics. “This step is part of the ongoing efforts by BP BUMN together with Danantara to build SOEs that are more competitive, professional, and capable of making a greater contribution to national development,” the account wrote.

Previously, Dony Oskaria revealed that the government is targeting the consolidation of the current 1,043 SOE entities into approximately 300 companies before the end of 2026. Despite the mergers and corporate simplification, Dony assured that the process will not result in employee layoffs.

“We will streamline our SOEs. We have 1,043 companies, and this year it must be completed to just 300 companies. But there is no need to worry, there will be no layoffs,” Dony said. He explained that all employees will be included in the consolidation process and will not be affected. The streamlining to 300 SOEs is expected to make the companies healthier, stronger, and more resilient.

SOEs will be grouped into several business clusters, ranging from logistics, construction, and insurance to information technology and communications. One example is the restructuring within PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, where dozens of subsidiaries will be simplified to create a clearer and more effective business focus.

“We are resolving all the issues in SOE management so that in the future these enterprises become companies that are truly improved, not only in business but also in governance. We are making improvements in all aspects,” Dony explained.
