21 Points of National Road Damage on Kopo-Sadang Route, Government's Response
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is taking action to address damage on the Cikopo-Sadang national road section in Purwakarta Regency, West Java Province, by repairing 21 points following complaints from the public.
The handling was carried out by the Main Implementation Agency for National Roads (BBPJN) of DKI Jakarta-West Java on Sunday (5/4/2026) as a quick response to ensure the safety and comfort of road users.
Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo emphasised that in such conditions, the safety of road users is the top priority while still maintaining connectivity.
“Connectivity must remain maintained, but the most important thing is the safety of road users. Therefore, the handling is carried out quickly while still prioritising the principle of caution,” said Dody on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
This step is part of the Ministry of PU’s commitment to maintaining the stability of national roads.
Previously, during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming period, the condition of that road section was stable without potholes after temporary handling using the Salob method to support smooth traffic flow.
However, high rainfall and extreme weather conditions in recent times have caused several points of damage to reappear on the road surface.
Residents have also felt the impact of these repairs. Toni, a resident of Cikampek, stated that the road condition before Eid was already good, so the homecoming journey went smoothly, although it had deteriorated again due to rain.
“Alhamdulillah, now it is being handled by the Ministry of PU, and hopefully in the future it will be stronger and smoother for road users,” said Toni.
Dadang, a resident of Cikopo, expressed a similar sentiment, noting that the road feels comfortable again after the repairs, especially for two-wheeled vehicle users.
The Ministry of PU will continue to conduct regular monitoring of road conditions, particularly on sections with high traffic and vulnerable to damage due to weather factors.
The public is also urged to remain cautious while driving and to report damage through official complaint channels so that it can be followed up immediately.
