Jakarta — The Jakarta Civil Service Police (Satpol PP) identified approximately 21 entertainment and recreation businesses violating operating hour regulations during Ramadhan.

“We issued warnings to around 21 entertainment venues for breaching the operating hours established by the tourism authority,” stated Satriadi Gunawan, Head of Jakarta’s Satpol PP, in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.

As of 12 March 2026, a total of 690 entertainment and recreation businesses have been monitored across five Jakarta administrative city regions. Establishments found to breach the operating hour regulations are initially issued warnings before facing stricter penalties.

“We issue warnings first. If they continue to be obstinate, only then do we proceed with closure. However, they have not been difficult, and by the next day they have already complied,” stated Satriadi.

He noted that his teams have conducted outreach to business operators to ensure compliance with Ramadhan operating hour rules.

Additionally, he stated that monitoring will continue throughout the Eid al-Fitr holidays using a three-shift system for all field personnel.

“Our personnel must be on standby 24 hours to safeguard Jakarta. We have approximately 5,100 members divided into three shifts,” Satriadi said.

He revealed that entertainment venue operating hours will return to normal two days after Eid al-Fitr.

However, exemptions exist for businesses located in four and five-star hotels and certain commercial zones, provided they are not adjacent to residential areas, places of worship, schools, or hospitals.

For permitted businesses, operating hours are specifically regulated at 20:30–01:30 WIB, with some other businesses having different time limits according to the regulations.

Beyond operating hour regulations, business operators are required to conduct closing procedures one hour before their operational deadline.

On certain other days, including the first day of Ramadhan, the Night of Nuzulul Qur’an, the night of takbiran, and the first and second days of Eid al-Fitr, several businesses remain mandated to close.
