Pekanbaru — The Labour Migration Protection Centre (BP3MI) of Riau Province has received 38 undocumented Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) deported from Malaysia via Dumai Port using the Indomal Sovereign vessel.

BP3MI Riau Head Fanny Wahyu Kurniawan stated that the repatriation of deported Indonesian migrant workers from Malaysia continues, particularly approaching Eid al-Fitr. Previously, 51 migrant workers were also repatriated from Malaysia the week before.

“We have received 38 of our Indonesian migrant workers who were deported from Malaysia. Previously, 51 people were also repatriated through the Indonesian Consulate General in Johor Bahru to Dumai Port,” she said in Pekanbaru on Friday.

“Of the 38 migrant workers, 28 are male and 10 are female,” she added.

She noted that during the holy month of Ramadhan, there have been three repatriation waves of deported migrant workers through Dumai Port, bringing the total number to approximately 203.

Fanny also mentioned that further repatriations of Indonesian migrant workers from Malaysia are expected to continue until before Eid al-Fitr. This is to enable the workers to return to their home areas and celebrate Eid al-Fitr with their families.

She further stated that the majority of repatriated migrant workers are in good health. BP3MI Riau ensures that all migrant workers arriving in Dumai will be registered and facilitated to return to their home areas so they can reunite with their families, especially as Eid al-Fitr approaches.
