The Budget Committee of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the government have agreed to raise the gross national income (GNI) per capita development target for 2027. Deputy Chairman of the Budget Committee from the Gerindra faction, Wihadi Wiyanto, stated that the Government Work Plan for 2027, which forms part of the preliminary design for the 2027 State Budget, sets a GNI per capita target of US$5,800 to US$5,840, equivalent to IDR 96.4 million per capita annually. This represents an approximate 4% increase compared to the 2026 State Budget target of IDR 92.68 trillion, or US$5,520. On a monthly basis, the agreed GNI per capita target would be around IDR 8.03 million, up from the 2026 monthly record of IDR 7.72 million. In addition to the GNI per capita, the preliminary design agreed upon by the Budget Committee and the government includes the following development targets: a poverty rate of 6.0-6.5%, an extreme poverty rate of 0%, a Gini ratio of 0.362-0.367, an open unemployment rate of 4.3-4.87%, a human capital index of 0.575, a farmer welfare index of 0.8038, a formal job creation proportion of 40.81%, and an environmental quality index of 76.84.
