JAKARTA – Indonesia’s automotive exhibition, the Indonesian International Motor Show (IIMS), will definitely be held again in 2027 with a slightly different schedule from previous years.

After being held in early January in recent years, next year’s event will return to the old pattern, towards the middle of the year.

“In 2027, we’re holding it after Ramadan, around 6-16 May at JIExpo. January wasn’t ideal, so we’re going back to how it was in 2018-2019,” said Rudi MF, Project Manager of Dyandra Promosindo, to Kompas.com.

This timing adjustment is expected to maintain market momentum whilst giving consumers space to regain more stable purchasing power after Ramadan.

Rudi also outlined the transaction achievements at the 2026 edition as an indication of optimism heading towards 2027.

“The supporting industry or aftermarket sector is also included, but the figures aren’t large although they’ve risen by about 3 per cent in rupiah terms compared to last year,” he said.

In nominal terms, total transactions at IIMS 2026 were recorded as rising by approximately Rp 700 billion compared to the previous year, reaching a value of Rp 8.7 trillion.

“For IIMS 2027, we’ll create a more exciting experience, with increased hospitality, improved visitor comfort, and expanded exhibition space,” said Rudi.

With transaction trends continuing to be dominated by automobiles and values continuing to grow, the post-Ramadan staging of IIMS 2027 is believed to be a strategy to maintain the exhibition’s appeal whilst driving the potential for automotive purchases in the first half of that year.
