2026 Work Plan: Pertamina's Five Strategies Amid Global Geopolitical Dynamics
Amid global geopolitical tensions, PT Pertamina (Persero) is committed to maintaining business growth and continued expansion. This optimism will be realised through five strategies in Pertamina’s 2026 Work Plan and Company Budget (RKAP), serving as a guide to address volatility in global energy supply and prices.
This commitment was affirmed by the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Simon Aloysius Mantiri, at Grha Pertamina in Jakarta on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.
Simon revealed that Pertamina had navigated a challenging 2025, marked by global economic pressures, energy price volatility, and increasingly complex operations.
“Yet amid all that, Pertamina stands firm as the frontline supporter of public life. This underscores that Pertamina is not merely a business entity but also part of the solution for the Indonesian nation,” he stated.
Pertamina’s 2026 RKAP, Simon explained, takes into account global geopolitical dynamics that could disrupt the energy sector and the world economy. Conflicts in the Middle East region, along with rising pressures in strategic routes such as the Strait of Hormuz, are contributing to volatility in global energy supply and prices.
Simon emphasised five crucial strategies to navigate these challenges. First, maintaining strict cost discipline across all operational lines. Second, ensuring the company’s operations become more reliable and efficient. Third, executing investments selectively, focusing on truly strategic projects.
Fourth, building a more agile organisation to respond to changes. And fifth, continuously driving innovation as a primary need in facing energy business dynamics.
Simon stated that Pertamina seeks to leverage geopolitical challenges as opportunities. One approach is by promoting efficiency and enhancing operations, such as refinery utilisation. Through these steps, Pertamina targets growth in sales volumes of quality energy products.
“Amid increasingly complex global upheavals, Pertamina’s role as the Soko Guru Energi or pillar of national energy resilience becomes ever more vital. Pertamina’s existence in 2026 is not just about growth. It is about resilience, reliability, and national energy sovereignty, which is why Pertamina cannot operate in an ordinary manner,” he asserted.
The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of PT Pertamina (Persero), Mochamad Iriawan, added that energy resilience is Pertamina’s top priority. In the short term, Pertamina is committed to maintaining energy supplies to meet the needs of the Indonesian people.
