2026 Wage Subsidy Eligibility: Salary Cap and Latest Updates
The Wage Subsidy Assistance (BSU) is expected to be distributed again by the government in the fourth quarter of 2026, covering October, November and December. Applicants must meet certain requirements to qualify.
Under Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 10 of 2022, the BSU is intended to maintain workers’ purchasing power as they meet their living expenses. Accordingly, it is only available to workers and wage earners.
This means Indonesians who work outside the definitions of ‘worker’ and ‘wage earner’ are not eligible for the BSU. In addition to having worker or wage-earner status, recipients must also earn below the specified salary limit.
So what is the salary cap for BSU recipients in 2026? Here is an explanation.
2026 BSU salary cap
Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 10 of 2022 was amended by Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 5 of 2025 for last year’s BSU distribution. Under that regulation, recipients could earn no more than Rp3,500,000 a month.
‘Receiving a salary/wage of no more than Rp3,500,000 (three million five hundred thousand rupiah) per month,’ states Article 3(2)(c) of Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 5 of 2025.
This salary cap applied to the 2025 distribution of the BSU. The Ministry of Manpower has not yet released updated information for the 2026 programme, including its eligibility requirements or how to check recipient status.
2026 BSU eligibility criteria
Although no new regulation on the 2026 eligibility criteria has been issued, applicants can refer to last year’s requirements. Article 3 of Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 5 of 2025 lists the following:
Be an Indonesian citizen, as verified by a National Identity Number (NIK).
Earn no more than Rp3.5 million a month.
Be an active participant in the Wage Earner (PU) category of the BPJS Employment programme.
Not be a state civil servant (ASN), member of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), or member of the Indonesian National Police (Polri).
Priority is given to workers who did not receive Family Hope Programme (PKH) assistance in the period before the BSU distribution.
2026 BSU payment amount
According to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, the 2026 BSU will amount to Rp300,000 a month for three months. As it will be paid in a single instalment, recipients will receive a total of Rp900,000.
‘The government will again provide wage subsidy assistance. This year’s assistance will be paid once for three months, at Rp300,000 per month,’ Airlangga said after a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 30 September 2026.
The Rp900,000 payment is the net amount. Anyone seeking a fee or other deduction can be reported to the Ministry of Manpower’s official complaints channel or to law enforcement.
Latest updates on the 2026 BSU distribution
On its official Instagram account, @kemnaker, the Ministry of Manpower said there was no new information about the BSU. The public is therefore advised to check the ministry’s social media accounts regularly for updates.
‘There is currently no official information. If there are further updates about the BSU, Minaker will share them on the Ministry of Manpower’s social media. Please keep monitoring its social media. Thank you,’ the ministry said in a comment, quoted on Tuesday, 13 October 2026.
A check of bsu.kemnaker.go.id, the website used last year to check recipient status, was unsuccessful. As of 8.53 am WIB on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, the site could not be accessed.
The website bsu.bpjsketenagakerjaan.go.id was also unavailable. When opened, it displayed a notice saying the site was undergoing development or capacity upgrades.
In summary, there is no official maximum salary limit for 2026 yet. If last year’s distribution is used as a guide, the cap would be Rp3.5 million.
