2026 May Day Commemoration to be Held at Monas on 1 May, Prabowo Scheduled to Attend
JAKARTA - The International Labour Day (May Day) commemoration in 2026 will be held on Friday, 1 May 2026, at the National Monument (Monas) field in Central Jakarta.
Chairman of the All-Indonesian Labour Union Confederation (KSPSI), Andi Gani Nena Wea, stated that the event is expected to be attended by hundreds of thousands of workers.
He mentioned that 211,800 workers will attend, plus crowds from online motorcycle taxi drivers who will join.
“And it will also be attended by President Prabowo Subianto. Then there will be international labour figures who will attend directly,” said Andi Gani during a press conference in the Cikini area, Central Jakarta, on Monday (27/4/2026).
According to Andi, the number of participants at this year’s May Day is estimated to be larger than the previous year.
In 2025, the number of participants was recorded at around 130,000 people.
“Then Mr President will deliver his national address, and he will convey what he will do in 2026,” Andi revealed.
At the end of the event, President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to call all union chairmen to the stage for a group photo.
On that occasion, Andi Gani also expressed appreciation to President Prabowo Subianto and the government for several policies that have been deemed fulfilled.
“The Domestic Workers Protection Act (PPRT) has already been fulfilled by him,” he continued.
He also revealed that the government is preparing several follow-up policies.
One of them is the resolution of the Asset Forfeiture Act.
Andi stated that regulations related to outsourcing will also be announced by the government before the 2026 May Day commemoration.
The May Day commemoration at Monas is scheduled to start at 07.00 WIB and run until 11.00 WIB.
The event will also be enlivened by performances from the band Kotak, Ndarboy Genk, and one other singer.
