2026 Local Government Appreciation Awards Feature Four Categories
The Ministry of Home Affairs, together with detikcom, will organise the 2026 Outstanding Local Government Appreciation as a form of recognition for regional performance achievements. This programme highlights four strategic categories that are assessed to have a direct impact on community welfare as well as strengthening the regional economy.
The awarding is based on Law Number 1 of 2022 on Financial Relations between the Central Government and Regional Governments, particularly regarding performance-based fiscal incentives.
This policy is also reinforced by Government Regulation Number 12 of 2019 on Regional Financial Management as the basis for transparent and accountable financial management.
In its implementation, the awards will be given to provincial, regency, and city governments in four main fields.
First, the Inflation Control category assesses the region’s ability to maintain price stability through strengthening supply, distribution, and affordability of strategic commodities, as well as enhancing synergy with various stakeholders.
Second, the Unemployment Reduction category focuses on the region’s success in creating jobs and improving workforce quality. These efforts are carried out through collaboration between government, business, and educational institutions to expand sustainable employment opportunities.
Third, the Poverty and Stunting Reduction category serves as an important indicator of improving community quality of life. Its focus includes optimising social protection programmes and increasing access to basic services such as health, nutrition, education, and sanitation through a cross-sectoral approach.
Fourth, the Creative Financing category encourages innovation in regional development financing amid fiscal constraints. This scheme opens opportunities for regions to explore alternative funding sources beyond the Regional Budget (APBD), including through partnerships with the private sector and utilisation of regional assets, to accelerate development and strengthen fiscal independence.
In addition to the awards, the event series also features the National Acceleration Forum as a national collaborative platform that brings together central and local governments in a single dialogue ecosystem.
This forum not only serves as a discussion space but also as an implementative arena to drive concrete and measurable regional economic acceleration.
The forum will feature Minister of Home Affairs General (Ret.) Muhammad Tito Karnavian as the main speaker, along with governors, regents, and mayors from across Sumatra. The discussion will be moderated by detikcom’s Editor-in-Chief, Alfito Deannova Gintings.
The event, packaged in the form of an interactive talk show and panel discussion lasting approximately 120 minutes, will be held on Saturday, 25 April 2026, at the Wyndham Opi Hotel in Palembang. The event can also be watched online via the detikcom platform.
