2026 Junior High School Academic Competency Test Scores: Yogyakarta Leads Nationally

The results of the 2026 Junior High School Academic Competency Test (TKA) show varying achievements across Indonesia, with Yogyakarta Special Province leading nationally in Indonesian language. National averages stand at 60.83 for Indonesian and 40.34 for Mathematics. The list is compiled based on provincial averages ranked highest to lowest, focusing solely on Indonesian language and not an official ranking but an academic achievement mapping from the 2026 exams. Yogyakarta leads with 73.74, followed by Jakarta and Bangka Belitung, while Indonesian Schools Abroad (SILN) scored 61.14. The data reveals significant regional disparities, with Java, parts of Kalimantan, and Sumatra provinces dominating the top ranks. The government is urged to continuously evaluate and equalise education quality to improve academic standards nationwide. The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education emphasised the importance of Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) post-2026 TKA to address regional skill gaps. The ministry also announced changes to the 2026 TKA implementation scheme for senior high schools and clarified that the SD and SMP TKA results are not regional ranking tools but instruments for reflecting education quality.
