2026 Homecoming Traffic Flow: Trans-Java Traffic Volume Increases by 131.87 Percent
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) recorded 661,258 vehicles passing eastbound through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026 homecoming period towards the eastern Trans-Java region. “That traffic volume increased significantly by 131.87 percent compared to normal traffic of 285,185 vehicles,” said Corporate Secretary & Legal PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paallo, in an official statement, quoted on Sunday (22/3/2026). Ria stated that based on traffic data from shift 1 on Saturday (21/3/2026), 19,254 vehicles were recorded passing eastbound through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate. To ensure smooth traffic flow, PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, together with the Police, temporarily implemented traffic engineering in the form of contraflow from KM 47 to KM 70 towards Cikampek on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road section at the Police’s discretion. Ria added that public enthusiasm for travelling to the eastern Trans-Java region remains evident. “Therefore, a 23 percent toll discount for all transactions on the Batang-Semarang Toll Road section is still in effect from 12 March to 31 March 2026,” she explained. Meanwhile, vehicles from the eastern Trans-Java region heading to Jakarta through the Cikampek Utama GT recorded 176,065 vehicles, down 36.08 percent from normal traffic of 275,445 vehicles. Increases in vehicle volume were also seen on several toll roads managed by the JTT Group, particularly in Central Java and East Java, in line with rising public mobility ahead of the homecoming period. In Central Java, a significant surge occurred at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate. Meanwhile, vehicles leaving Semarang decreased to 109,644, or down 26.84 percent from normal conditions of 149,866 vehicles. A similar situation occurred at the Banyumanik Toll Gate. Eastbound traffic towards Solo recorded 401,043 vehicles, up 78.74 percent from the normal volume of 224,367 vehicles.
