Indonesia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has assured that the 2026 hajj pilgrimage will proceed as planned despite escalating political and security tensions in the Middle East.

Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak stated that to date there has been no impact on the stages of hajj preparation currently underway. All planning and coordination processes are proceeding according to schedule. “We are ensuring that as of now, preparations for the 2026 hajj remain unaffected. All stages are proceeding on schedule,” Dahnil said in Jakarta on Sunday, 1 March 2026.

His statement came amidst growing escalation of political and security tensions in several Middle Eastern nations. The Indonesian government, according to Dahnil, continues to monitor developments and coordinate with relevant authorities.

Whilst the hajj is assured to be safe, the government has urged prospective umrah pilgrims scheduled to depart in the coming period to postpone their journeys. This advisory is a precautionary measure in response to the region’s currently unstable conditions.

The Ministry of Hajj, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, continues to coordinate with authorities in Saudi Arabia, airlines, and umrah travel operators to ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims, including those experiencing delayed returns.

“We continue to coordinate to ensure that delayed pilgrims are handled properly and placed in safe and appropriate locations,” Dahnil said.
