2026 Free Homecoming Program by the Ministry of Transportation: 15,000 Passengers, Registration Opens March 1st!
The Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation is preparing 401 buses for the free homecoming program during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr transportation. This program provides a total capacity of 15,834 passengers to serve the homecoming and return flow.
“Registration will open starting March 1st, 2026, online through the website nusantara.kemenhub.go.id. Registration will be closed when the entire quota has been met,” said Director General of Land Transportation, Aan Suhanan, in an official statement in Jakarta, Wednesday (February 25th).
This year’s free homecoming program covers 34 destination cities spread across 10 provinces. The following is a list of the destination cities:
For the return flow, the Ministry of Transportation provides departures from 12 cities in 8 provinces, namely Kuningan, Madiun, Surabaya, Palembang, Padang, Medan, Aceh, Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Wonogiri, and Purwokerto.
In addition to passenger buses, the government also provides 8 motorcycle transportation trucks with a total capacity of 240 motorcycles. This facility is available specifically for the homecoming and return routes to Solo, Yogyakarta, Wonogiri, and Purwokerto.
The handover of motorcycles for the homecoming flow is scheduled for March 16th, 2026, at the Pondok Cabe Terminal, South Tangerang, and will depart on the same evening.
The departure of the homecoming flow is divided into three waves at five terminal locations:
For the return flow, buses will depart simultaneously on March 25th, 2026, from various terminals in the areas of origin to Jakarta and its surroundings.
The Ministry of Transportation ensures that all bus fleets have undergone safety inspections (ramp checks) to guarantee the physical condition of the vehicles and the readiness of the drivers.
The Ministry of Transportation appeals to the public to only register for one free homecoming program to avoid duplicate data. This is important so that the available quota can be utilized by those who need it. (Z-10)
